The VPS5 Senior Policy Officer will have a lead role in the development, analysis and communication of system reform options.

The Workforce Policy and Strategy (WPS) Division is looking for VPS5 Senior Policy Officers to join our high-performing team. WPS Division provides strategic policy advice on the management and development of Victoria's early childhood and school education workforce.

Two ongoing full-time role are available, and other fixed-term roles across WPS Division may be available.

The Senior Policy Officer will be responsible for leading policy development, research and analysis related to the teacher supply pipeline (including initial teacher education), new teaching graduates and ongoing support and development for in-career teachers.

In the role, the Senior Policy Officer will have the opportunity to:

  • Produce high-quality written work, including presentations, reports, submissions and briefings
  • Undertake high-quality research, and qualitative and quantitative analysis of issues related to the early childhood and school education workforce
  • Initiate, develop and test ideas for reform
  • Be an integral part of a small team working in a dynamic environment
  • Work closely with key stakeholders inside and outside the Department of Education and Training.
