As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will assist the participant to live independently in their home and provide tailored support and care. The position requires working across a broad range of key stakeholders including participants, families, allied health practitioners and external companies and governing bodies (e.g. NDIA).


  • Provide direct support to participants to achieve their goals including assistance with daily house chores, cooking, personal hygiene practices, medication administration etc.
  • Build and maintain trusting and meaningful relationships with people we support, their circle of support and the wider community
  • Ensure policies, procedures and documentation requirements are followed to enhance smooth service delivery and compliance with relevant authorities
  • Assist in implementing Positive Behaviour Support plans and behavioural strategies with the support team for the benefit of participants
  • Facilitate community inclusion and participation, and support people to establish and maintain effective relationships and interests through access to community activities and services
  • Encourage positive and socially appropriate behaviour and effectively manage challenging behaviours
  • Take initiative in improving service delivery and confident in making suggestions to the leadership team

  • 2+ years’ experience in supporting young people and adults with complex mental health and behaviours of concern
  • Certificate 4 in Mental Health (must have)
  • Passion for working with and supporting people with disabilities to achieve their goals
  • Ability to work flexible hours and adaptable to change
  • Understanding and committed to a person-centric model of practice
  • Must have capabilities in safe administration of medication, food handling and hygiene and manual handling
  • Possess a love for animals (participant owns a dog)
  • Skilled in applying strategies to de-escalate highly tense situations when participants with mental health issues are triggered

Required prior to employment:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • WWC Check
  • Police Check
  • Driver Licence and own reliable vehicle that can be used for participant transport
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Mental Health Certificate
