About the Role:

The primary role of the Project Manager Engineering is to assist with the preparation of vehicle designs and contracts for the procurement of firefighting appliances and associated plant and equipment. The position will manage a range of projects from modification improvements to the build of new firefighting appliances and associated equipment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage allocated projects including preparing project briefs, maintaining a project management plan, implementation planning, project schedules, risk management plans and any other relevant project documentation.
  • Provide authoritative advice in development of feasibility and scoping documents associated with new and existing fire-fighting vehicle build programs.
  • Manage the build-up of new fire-fighting vehicles, with the assistance of, and providing feedback to, key stakeholder groups.
  • Build partnerships with key internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Provide input in the development of key strategies, policies and processes for the monitoring, reporting, auditing, quality control, dispute resolution and delivery of project outcomes.
  • Liaise with eligible stakeholders managing consultation process including ensuring designs are cost effective, safe, reliable, maintainable, and continually reviewed and improved.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and tracking of project deliverables.
  • Comply with all measures taken to safeguard them while at work, including SW&E policies, procedures and instructions.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and be eligible for membership of the Institute of Engineers, Australia and/or significant allied experience in the medium to heavy vehicle manufacturing/maintenance industry.
  • Minimum of three (3) years proven experience in an Engineering environment allied to vehicle design and development.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management requirements with the ability to prioritise, initiate and control programs.
  • Ability to prepare prescriptive technical specifications for vehicles, and associated plant and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current Victorian driver's license with preferred medium/heavy rigid endorsement.
