The Opportunity

As we’re growing our advisory capability in the areas of cities strategic planning, urban and regional planning, integrated precinct planning and development, environmental and social sustainability, we are looking for a Senior Strategic Planner to join our Cities team in Melbourne. The Cities team sits within the Strategy, Community and Place (SCP) unit.

You will work on major strategic, policy and statutory planning projects, and provide advisory services relating to strategic planning and spatial planning, urban regeneration, integrated precinct and place-based investments, feasibility studies, master-planning, integrated transport, sustainability, and urban economics.

Specifically, you will:

  • Collaborate with master planners, urban designers, infrastructure engineers, government officials, developers and the public, to create optimal integrated solutions to develop our cities and drive reform, precincts, places and spaces
  • Build relationship and partner with government agencies and private developers on infill, brownfield and greenfield precinct development
  • Work across health, education, social housing and transport investments
  • Provide thought leadership, including on the role of integrated precinct and place development
  • Foster strong client relationships and play a part in work winning initiatives
  • Undertake site visits and provide clients with reliable and insightful advice

What we'll love about you

You are a capable strategic planner and project manager with 2+ years of experience in a consulting environment, advising in one or more of the following disciplines: strategic planning, urban design and planning with spatial understanding, urban economics, architecture or development.

This could be a great opportunity to develop skills and exposure to Cities, Precincts and Place based complex projects including urban regeneration and greenfield precinct planning and development.

Ideally, you will have skills/knowledge in some of the following:

  • Strategic planning with spatial understanding
  • Strong understanding of integrated precincts and how transport, land-use and economic development integration can achieve optimal outcomes
  • Taking projects from early planning (incl. master-planning and due diligence) through to delivery
  • Sustainability, policy development, strategic planning, economics or demographic analysis
  • Project management
  • Communicating win-win negotiation positions to influence private/public utility providers and the provision of infrastructure for precincts
  • State Significant Development and Precinct Planning experience would be highly valued
