Flower Drum is a renowned restaurant establishment located in Melbourne that has been in operation since 1975. We specialise in offering Cantonese cuisine, coupled with a fine dining experience to our diners. We strive to offer impeccable service through special utilisation of premium ingredients in an effort to deliver our products to the highest degree.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Restaurant Manager to join our team of professionals. The Restaurant Manager is responsible for developing and delivering service to the highest level and will be required to demonstrate a dedication to customer experience.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

The position of Full-Time, Restaurant Section Manager will include, but not limited to, performance of the following tasks:

  • Ensures that all health, safety and hygiene regulations are strictly adhered to at all times by staff reporting to them in their responsible section.
  • Management and monitoring performance of serving staff in adherence to restaurant standard.
  • Work with reporting staff to develop a cohesive environment with an aim to deliver service expectations to customers to a required standard.
  • Communicate with customers to establish service requirements and execution of relevant tasks to deliver expectation needs.
  • Perform as a conduit between customer and serving staff to ensure direction is given to fulfil the needs of customer service expectations.
  • Responsible in the upkeep of preparing, serving and presenting food to order as per customer’s request(s).
  • Order and maintain various stock levels required for front of house use to ensure adequate resources are available.
  • Supervising good lines of communication with the kitchen as well as floor staff
  • Work succinctly with kitchen management with an effort to promote available foods whilst at the same time, adapting the needs of the customer.
  • Collaborate with kitchen management by adopting an aim to continually refresh the menu to suit customer’s changing needs, whilst also adapting to the changes in availability of food produce.
  • Familiarise with menu changes and requirements to fulfil ingredients ordering needs.
  • Have a keen eye in observing the ambience of the restaurant floor and be ready to implement actions to maintain a welcoming and positive atmosphere.
  • Participate and assess staff resource in respect to fluctuations of business operations, whilst adopting an acute business mindset.
  • Ensure that food and drink products are presentable before serving to customers
  • Work with the Executive Chef towards development of innovative and creative menu items in line with the direction of the restaurant theme
  • Adhering to specific customise requests from guests in terms of food preparation
  • Ensuring that the quality of food meets standard requirements
  • Overseeing and supervising presentation of the restaurant floor in adherence to the theme of the restaurant.
  • Participate in training junior staff when necessary.


Skills And Qualifications

The successful applicant will have
  • A diploma (or equivalent qualification) in hospitality OR at least three years of relevant experience in large scale restaurants
  • Meticulous attention to details
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to speak Cantonese or/and Mandarin will be highly regarded


Salary Range: AUD60,000-AUD70,000 + Super
