Located in our Bayswater, Melbourne office and covering the ANZ territory, we have a vacancy for an Application Engineer who will provide consultative technical support & application assistance to our Local Business Partners, Sales Teams and customers throughout Australia and New Zealand to maximise technical sales competence. You will ensure technical and commercial responses are accurate and meet customer deadlines, and deliver coaching and training to stakeholders to bring them up to the required technical competence levels required.

Your responsibilities will include to:

• Provide product selection and quotation support in the first instance for Natural Gas (NG) and Industrial (IND) products.
• Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and influence the growth-oriented accounts.
• Provide support to internal teams developing and maintaining internal processes / reporting requirements to ensure the company meets and exceeds customer’s contractual requirements in regard to response times and delivery performance.
• Proactively promote products and service solutions by utilizing marketing programs, leveraging field resources, and providing distributor / end-user product trainings.
• Manage and build on internal sales team’s relationships and Local Business Partners, bringing in Product Sales Specialists where required to assist in project sales.
• Understand customer needs to uncover additional opportunities within accounts across all products and service solutions.
• Provide price and delivery confirmation (ATP) for supply and/or delivery lead times (IND & NG SBU)
• Support Margin and profitability management through diligent and strategic pricing
• Provide support to the Company Delegation of Authority (DOA) policy and assist in management of IND SBU profitability
• First escalation product support
• To assess in the first instance who/where or how should the technical enquiry should be managed, and divert to AP PSQ teams as required (IND & NG SBU)
• Supervise the product selection process or as the case may be manage the flow of information to the correct technical person
• Interact with the relevant sales and operations functions to ensure 100% quote accuracy to meet customers’ expectations
• Develop strong customer relationships at all levels through superior customer service

HSE Requirements

  • Have or gain a working knowledge of current HSE statutory and Corporate expectations and their implications.
  • Have or gain a working knowledge of business and departmental HSE risks and their control measures.
  • Have or gain a working knowledge of HSE risk management techniques.
  • Provide exemplary leadership in Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
  • To communicate HSE expectations to subordinates and contractors so they are known and complied with.
  • Monitor HSE performance of work activities.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant technical experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, water, water treatment, power/or related process industries.
  • Preferably a strong technical knowledge of industrial valves 

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills that can successfully respond/translate TQ’s to the organization to close orders and can work collaboratively internally.
  • Exhibit competency in technical understanding, training and coaching on Industrial products.
  • Ability to strategically prioritize and suitably adapt and improve on account management approach as and when necessary to focus on successful and profitable “win-win” situations.
  • Understand customer needs and able to leverage on both product portfolio and internal resources to identify cross-selling opportunities across accounts to create additional value to customers and maximize the Company’s sales revenue.
  • Proactive in learning more on the product portfolio and understanding how to differentiate product offerings competitively. 
  • Shows understanding of market trends and the impacts on customers for the assigned geographical territory.
  • Resourceful and is comfortable in navigating through internal resources by collaborating cross-functionally and can utilize resources effectively.
