About the Centre/Service: GEKA Bentleigh Kindergarten is a not-for-profit community based kindergarten surrounded by beautiful parkland. Children who attend a GEKA kindergarten are engaged in a play-based curriculum which evolves from the children’s interests. Both indoor and outdoor activities and experiences are carefully planned to enable each child to work towards their next step in learning.

Glen Eira Kindergarten Association are currently seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to join the team at GEKA Bentleigh Kindergarten! GEKA is a not for profit Early Years Management organisation based in the municipality of Glen Eira. We manage and support eleven community kindergartens in delivering the highest standard of professionalism, responsive management and inclusive, play based early years education. About the role: GEKA are seeking an enthusiastic and confident Early Childhood Teacher to work in the 4 year old Blue Group at GEKA Bentleigh. The groups run from 8.30am-4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with planning scheduled for Wednesdays (day can be negotiated with line manager). The position totals 22.5 hrs hours per week – a perfect position for those who have families or require flexibility in their working hours, and can be supplemented by working casually on our relief list, should you be interested. To be eligible to apply for a position at GEKA, you need to have the following:
  • An Early Childhood Education degree or equivalent, as approved by the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA)
  • Must hold a valid and current VIT registration (provisional or full registration)
  • Must hold a valid and current First Aid (Level 004), CPR and Child Protection certificates
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current best practice that is reflective of the approved National Quality Framework, Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 and Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010
  • Awareness and understanding of the National Quality Standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to lead a team to deliver high quality education
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) and confidence to engage with a spanerse range of people
  • Demonstrated ability to be solution focused in thinking and practice
  • Experience in leading and mentoring inspaniduals and teams
