About The Project

McConnell Dowell is the constructor within the Western Program Alliance (WPA) which forms part of the Victorian State government’s ambitious level crossing removal program. The Alliance brings together the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and Arup and Mott MacDonald as design partners.

WPA was formed in 2017 and following the successful completion of several major projects, is now focused on delivering the level crossing removals at Werribee (Werribee Street & Cherry Street), Hoppers Crossing (Old Geelong Road) and Cranbourne (the Cranbourne Line Upgrade), as well as developing future works projects.

Your Opportunity

We are now accepting applications from experienced contracts administrators to join us in the position of ensure that contracts are drafted, executed, and administered in accordance with Alliance procedures, to gain the maximum value for money from the supply chain and ensure the success of the project.

As SeniorContracts Administrator, You Will Be Accountable For

  • Ensuring that all subcontracts, supply and services contracts are procured, executed, delivered and closed out, in accordance with Company commercial policies and guidelines
  • Reporting any instances of commercial non-conformances to the Project or Regional Commercial Manager as appropriate
  • Managing the commercial aspects of contract negotiations and disputes with the Project Manager and Subcontractors
  • Ensuring that head contract and subcontract obligations are communicated and understood by the site team
  • Mentoring and supporting other site based contracts administration staff
  • Consistent implementation of the Company’s commercial policies and procedures

Requirements For This Role Are
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or substantial Contract Administration experience
  • Minimum five years’ experience in project/contractual engineering and/or construction role
  • Demonstrated ability to assess claims or variations by Subcontractors against the quantity claimed as well as against their contractual requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse contractual issues and provide and/or recommend solutions through appropriate problem solving techniques
  • Sound commercial acumen accompanied by proven negotiation and inter-relationship skills
  • Clear and definitive written and verbal communication, accompanied by competent presentation ability
  • Strong team player and demonstrated ability to work as part of, or lead, a team
  • Superior organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to mentor other Contract Administrators and Assistant Contract Administrators
