ERM is seeking an Environmental Planners (Junior – Mid Level) based in our Melbourne office. This is an exciting opportunity for a junior to mid level professional looking to advance their career with a global environmental leader.

The successful candidate will be involved with facilitating the planning and environmental approvals process for a range of large scale renewable energy projects (including wind energy facilities and solar farms) as well as property projects in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. As a junior to mid level consultant you will be involved with the day to day dealings of delivering these projects overseen by the project manager.

The candidate will be able to develop skills as an environmental and statutory planning professional through mentoring and professional development opportunities; and be at the forefront of providing key and innovative advice and solutions to developers, Governments, and other stakeholders.

Role Profile

To support the successful delivery of ERM projects and objectives by:

  • Preparing planning permit applications, reports, and proposals;
  • Delivering (from start-up to close-out) a range of planning projects, with support from more experienced team members;
  • Desktop and field-based investigations into planning and environmental constraints on projects;
  • Direct management of external consultants working on the preparation of technical studies, planning and permit applications and other reports;
  • Assistance in the preparation of environmental management plans (EMPs);
  • Liaising with clients and stakeholders, including State and Local Governments and the community; and
  • Working with the other members of the team to support client management and engagement initiatives.
  • A degree recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) or similar
  • A minimum of 2+ year relevant statutory town planning/environmental planning experience in private consulting and/ or governmentin Victoria.
  • Up to date knowledge of the Victorian planning and approvals system.
  • A strong desire to further experiences in the renewable energy sector.
  • Understanding in any one or more of the Property, Mining (including mine closure and rehabilitation), and Renewable Energy sectors and the companies operating in these sectors and their relevant regulatory environments would be advantageous.
  • Exceptional teamwork and relationship building skills.
  • Previous consulting experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • High appreciation and understanding of Health & Safety standards
  • Proven report writing skills
