About the role

A unique opportunity exists to join FRRR with a newly created leadership role focussing on the strategic area of place.

Are you an outstanding leader who thrives in enabling community-led change, working in multi-sector partnerships, delivers to the highest standard from the grassroots to Board level, and gets how remote, rural, and regional communities work?

This leadership role is responsible for the ongoing evolution, expansion, and delivery of FRRR’s Place strategic focus area, through programs and engagements that improve equitable access to opportunities, strengthen self-generation and self-determination, and which champion the social, cultural and economic fabric in smaller remote, rural, and regional communities. This role is tasked with a field-building agenda; ensuring FRRR’s knowledge and experience within rural and remote social and economic development field is grown, promoted, and influential in attracting partnerships to FRRR and improving broader investment and policy improvements across remote, rural, and regional Australia.

The Place Lead areas of accountability include:

  • Leadership and development of a team of State Grants Managers with direct reports supporting the delivery of the multi-streamed Strengthening Rural Communities grant program. This includes collaborative oversight of a bushfire recovery stream of funding
  • Strategic and operational oversight of the development of quality grant applications, State based outreach and engagement, and program funding pipeline
  • Ensure timely and quality reporting to donors in Place focussed programs
  • Continuous improvement, evaluation, growth, and communication of Place focussed programs and grants in line with FRRR’s 2020-2025 strategic plan
  • Work as part of a highly collaborative and networked team of Portfolio Leads, and within the broader senior leadership team, toward the achievement of FRRR’s strategic and operational goals
  • Provide strategic and operational guidance and advice to the Leveraging & Brokering team in relation to Place focussed NFP, Corporate, and Philanthropic sub-funds, ensuring alignment to and consistency with FRRR’s strategic goals, best practice, and transparency and efficiency between areas of work
  • Effectively engage with external stakeholders, taking a proactive collaborative approach with key organisations working in the field of place-based community development, regional and remote economic development, and cultural strength
  • Develop and contribute to external submissions; including assistance and advice in the preparation of funding proposals, policy submissions, conference presentations, and philanthropic sector events.

This role is located in Bendigo but applications from further afield will be considered. FRRR is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from people with diverse cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people of all abilities.
