About the facility

Barwon Health’s Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients.

About the role

Guided by the principles of inclusion, participation and leadership, the key role of the Lived Experience Consultants will be to enable systemic improvements across the Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS). Carer and Consumer Consultants will work together to maintain a network of people in the community with Lived Experience of mental illness and/or caring for those with lived experience, and they facilitate this networks engagement in service design and delivery initiatives. Consultants maintain connections with external organisations focussed on gathering consumer and carer perspectives, and make this vital information available to MHDAS.
