About the Role

As the Manager, Security and Compliance you will work with the IT Project Director to provide the organisation with a central point of contact for IT security and compliance management related activities, provide expertise / technical guidance and lead advocacy in IT security compliance for applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.


If successful, in collaboration with the IT Project Director, you will be responsible for maintaining information security policy, standards and procedures, and will monitor and address cyber threats and lead security awareness through education and communication across AMES Australia.


To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Information Systems or related field OR Project Management Qualified (PMBOK or Prince2)
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in IT security and compliance implementation, including some experience in project / change management and people management
  • Working knowledge of and experience in the policy and regulatory environment of IT security
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of key external bodies and stakeholders is essential
  • Sound knowledge of the current cyber-security industry, including emerging issues, and ability to maintain currency of knowledge
  • Broad knowledge of IT related security practices, designs, methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Knowledge of general societal, political, and legal issues related to IS security
  • Strong project and time management skills with demonstrated ability to successfully implement change initiatives
  • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to negotiate expectations with key stakeholders and to train staff across all levels of an organisation
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ability to motivate and manage an effective team


The following criteria are desirable:

  • Minimum four (4) years of IT security & compliance experience
  • Proven experience in the development and delivery of security education and awareness programs
  • Highly desirable to hold or be working towards relevant Industry Certifications such as:
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional(CISSP)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
  • Certified Network Security Engineer (CNSE)
