Urban Designer/Architect - two vacancies available

  • Band 7 Salary Range: $96,794 - $108,318 (pro rata for Part Time) plus 9.5% Super
  • Full-time & Part-time Temporary roles until 03 Dec 2021, backfilling employees on leave.

About The Organisation

City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisation, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more.

About The Role

Reporting to the Head of City Design these roles are responsible for reviewing and advising on relevant design aspects in Councils strategic and capital projects. The Urban Designer/Architect will collaborate with colleagues, consultants and external stakeholders to facilitate and negotiate good design outcomes whilst ensuring that council policies and strategies are reflected in all work produced.

Duties
  • Production and development of front-end concepts and studies for strategic locations, key projects or development sites across various scales
  • Provide clear and logical analytical reports with recommendations for action
  • A strategic and holistic approach to complex and sensitive design matters
  • Procure and project manage design work and manage external consultants
Skills

And Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Architecture or related field is essential
  • Solid experience as an Urban designer or Urban Architect, in private practice or local/state government
  • Excellent analytical and software skills in Adobe Suite, SketchUp, other 3D modelling software
  • Stakeholder engagement, contractor management, procurement and project management skills
