About the opportunity

AFCA, a Financial Ombudsman, is a one-stop shop for consumers and small businesses that have a dispute with their financial firm over issues such as banking, credit, general insurance, financial advice, investments, life insurance or superannuation. Our role is to assist consumers and small businesses to reach agreements with financial firms about how to resolve their complaints. AFCA is a free community service. We are not a regulator or government organisation, we are a not-for-profit with an independent Board.

The People team are highly regarded at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, working hand in hand with business leaders to deliver on the business strategy with a strong focus on using people insights to define and drive actionable people plans to deliver results. The team is made up of passionate, high-performing and collaborative HR professionals who focus on coaching, enabling and empowering its leaders and self-leaders to promote the most positive and engaging culture. AFCA’s engagement scores have never been higher, a true testament to AFCA’s commitment to its people plans.

We are currently seeking an experienced People Partner who can start as soon as possible to assist with a busy and exciting time in the HR cycle. Reporting to the Head of People Partnering and Organisational Design, the role will include participating in 360 debrief co-facilitation, supporting a coaching series for team leaders, managing complex ER cases, and supporting end-of-year calibration and salary review.

Other more general duties will include people partnering, organizational design and change, employee relations and cyclical people activities such as performance management and development, engagement and talent management. 

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll come equipped with:

  • Tertiary qualifications with significant experience in HR within a fast-paced environment
  • A proven ability to partner and influence a wide range of stakeholders, coupled with commercial acumen to deliver business results
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and providing advice to green leaders to improve performance
  • Experience supporting cyclical activities
  • Exceptional organizational skills and bias to action with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives
  • Experience in design and facilitation is desirable
  • Sound knowledge of National Employment Standards, Fair Work Act and Modern Awards
  • Experience in the finance sector would be highly desirable but not essential
