Your new role
This specialised role in CIB surveillance will be responsible for reviewing and investigating potential sanctions match alerts related to SWIFT messages in order to determine whether sanctions risks exist. The role involves investigating the alerted message efficiently and accurately adhering to Economic Trade Sanctions policy/standards and business work instructions/guidelines. Maintaining quality decision making is critical for this role whilst meeting agreed timeframes for deliverables. Your day to day role will include:

  • Review, investigate and apply an appropriate level of transaction due diligence to analyse sanctions risk in alerted messages.
  • Escalate payments to next level/senior associate where sanctions risk is identified.
  • Adhere and maintain 100% compliance on business compliance governance documents (Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Guidance notes to comply with ETS Policy/standards requirements)
  • Document each step of the analysis with appropriate rationale and evidence, in line with business compliance and governance documents
  • Meets agreed timeframes for deliverables (e.g. SLAs, work held in queue).
  • Meet business and performance targets.
  • Actively participate in the team, seek opportunities to continually enhance knowledge and capabilities.
  • Update daily output on Workware Active Operations Management tool.

This role is a temporary position with the view to extend. The role requires you to be flexible to work on a shift basis Monday-Friday 24 hours and Saturday until 12pm with flexibility.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Minimum 1.5 years experience in a Financial Crime related function (sanctions, transaction monitoring, AML or KYC)
  • ACAMS, CGSS or other financial crime industry standard qualification (preferable)
  • Competent understanding of SWIFT message types
  • Sound understanding and ability to measure Sanctions Risk.
  • Display curious approach, investigative mindset and awareness of global sanctions and AML.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Timely escalation of issues to ensure correct outcomes.
  • Strong written, oral communication and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
