The is your opportunity to join carsales as the Head of Internal Audit. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (with a direct line to the Chair of Audit Committee), you will provide independent assurance to the Board, Audit Committee and Executive Leadership Team, to ensure that business processes and controls that manage key risks are adequately designed and are operating effectively. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the Internal Audit Plan, supporting process reviews, determining the reliability, and ensuring compliance with legal guidelines and internal controls.

Additionally, the Head of Internal Audit will develop and maintain effective relationships with management so that the function is seen as a trusted advisor to the business.

This role could be full time or part time.

What’ll you’ll be doing

  • Evaluate governance, risk and control frameworks across the organisation.
  • Develop and deliver an annual risk-based internal audit plan.
  • Identify and map out processes along with associated underlying risks and controls.
  • Coordinate, drive and deliver simultaneous reviews in a timely and efficient manner, without compromising the quality of delivery.
  • Conduct technology audits and reviews of systems, applications and technology processes.
  • Exercise good commercial acumen and ensure audit recommendations are balanced, sustainable and risk-based and eliminate opportunities for fraud.
  • Work alongside the Risk Committee to help drive and maintain a strong risk compliance culture across the business.
  • Produce Audit Committee reports and communicate outcomes to impacted stakeholders.
  • Undertake timely follow up of issues to ensure that they have been actioned by management or reported to the Audit Committee.

What we’re looking for?

  • Qualification in a relevant discipline, with professional accreditation (such as CIA or CPA/CA).
  • Proven experience in conducting effective risk-based assurance activities in a complex business (ASX listed businesses preferred).
  • Experience in utilising data analytics to provide assurance and insight.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills combined with good strategic and commercial thinking.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience with NetSuite ERP or similar accounting programs advantageous.
