  • Full Time, permanent role
  • Band 5 salary from $70,452.84 + 9.5% Superannuation
  • RDO arrangement every 4 weeks
An opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated individual to join Manningham Council Local Laws team. The successful candidate must be able to work in a busy high volume environment with strong communication and organisation skills. The exciting position is multi discipline role so experience across all activities including local laws and amenity investigation, animal management and parking is required.

About the role

As a Local Laws Officer, you will contribute to the safety and amenity of the municipality through the provision of information, assistance and advice to the community, and through enforcement of Acts, Regulations and Local Laws. Reporting to the Team Leader Local Laws, this role is responsible for responding to service requests, conducting inspections, impounding animals, undertaking investigations, issuing infringements, preparing materials for briefs of evidence and presenting evidence in court.

Skills and experience:
  • Be passionate about community safety and service
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate, educate and gain cooperation from a broad range of people across the community
  • Have highly developed conflict resolution skills and flexible problem solving abilities
  • Have demonstrated experience in domestic animal management and in interpretation and enforcement of relevant legislation.
  • Be resilient and have a demonstrated high level of emotional intelligence
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload with competing priorities
  • A sound knowledge of the role of Local Government
  • Be accountable for your actions and work
