What we're doing

This role sits within the Data Services tribe, part of Technology & Data. Tech & Data's mandate is to empower REA with great technology, including a market-leading data platform. The Data Services Tribe supports and develops data flows, data storage, audience and property data insights which underpin REA's revenue and product growth.

We're the engine room of REA. Our mission is to:


  • Improve the quality, access and usage of our data for staff, consumers and customers
  • Build reusable data products that unlock value stored in our data
  • Create unique insights based on audience, property and customer data
  • Invest in the reliability, quality and security of systems and data



What you'll be doing:

With us, you'll have an Impact. You will need to engage consultatively with many different stakeholders across Product, Tech/Delivery and Digital/Analyst teams, who require guidance in in collecting and utilising our audience and clickstream data effectively.

As a Digital Analytics Specialist in Data Services you will be a subject matter expert and champion of:


  • Tag Manager roll out (via Tealium iQ)
  • Analytics implementations, primarily Adobe Analytics (Omniture), Google Analytics and Snowplow, but others as required (e.g. Nielsen, Krux etc.)
  • Data Layer definitions and schema management
  • Eliciting detailed data capture requirements from various stakeholders across REA.
  • Supporting teams in the use of Tealium iQ and ensuring the data layer definition and tag management process is well understood by stakeholders.
  • Scoping and documenting impacts of tracking implementations and schema changes on downstream data products.
  • Translating REA data layer definitions into Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics formats.
  • Implementing tracking configurations via the Tealium iQ and custom JavaScript interfaces.
  • Using your analytical and technical skills to support resolution of data quality issues in development, staging and production



Who we're looking for

Technical Analytics & Data


  • Strong practical knowledge and experience of digital analytics implementations across web and app technologies.
  • Intermediate SQL and JavaScript skills.
  • A passion for data and how it can be used to solve real problems.
  • Knowledge of programming, system design, and database concepts

Business Analysis


  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to interpret complex business needs and translate into requirements and data specifications for technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in workshop facilitation and requirements elicitation techniques.
  • Ability to converse with technical and non-technical people at all levels of the organisation.

Professional


  • 3 years of experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation.
  • Ability to work productively and autonomously in a fast paced environment.
  • Pedantic attention to detail as it relates to data.
  • Tertiary level qualifications in Business, Science, Engineering or Economics.

Desirable


  • Prior experience working with any of: Tealium IQ, Adobe Analytics (Omniture) and/or Google Analytics suites
  • Familiarity with APIs and complex JSON data structures
  • An understanding of Agile ways of working
