Calvary Health Care Bethlehem is a 32 bed health care facility providing a range of inpatient, community and ambulatory services for palliative care and progressive neurological conditions. We are currently located at our temporary site in Parkdale, whilst our Caulfield site is being re-developed into a Health Care Precinct.
Volunteer Coordinator – Fixed Term 28 hours per week (Commencing June 2021 for period of 12 months)

About the role
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of Volunteer Services.

As part of the Friends of Bethlehem program, you will be responsible for managing the existing volunteer service, overseeing specific volunteer-led activities, supporting other Friends of Bethlehem initiatives, and working in collaboration with CHCB executive to develop a volunteer strategy for the Caulfield Integrated Health Precinct.

All activities are guided by the National Calvary Volunteer Policy, CHCB Model of Care, and Calvary Health Care Bethlehem Health Promotion and Community Development ‘Living Well’ Framework.

Applictions must include a cover letter addressing the key selection criteria and required skills.

What You Bring
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, public health palliative care principles
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying new strategic opportunities, program development, implementation and review.
  • Understanding of community development principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated people management and organisational skills.
  • Strong inter-personal, communication and facilitation skills, including conflict management.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism
  • Demonstrated capability to live the mission and values of Calvary and commitment to Calvary’s strategic direction
  • Experience with recruitment, training and co-ordination of volunteers.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of orientation/training programs
  • Experience in public speaking/presenting to internal and external clients
  • Proven ability to manage a departmental budget
  • Ability to communicate about living well with illness, aging, dying, and grief and how to support volunteers, community members, patients/families and colleagues to build skills and confidence in this area
