Senior Finance and Business Officer (VPS5)

  • $101,120 - $122,348 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed Term for up to 6 months
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 1 Spring Street, Melbourne but working remotely in line with CovidSafe plans (flexibility may be available)

The position of Senior Finance and Business Officer forms a part of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation Group

The Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation Group has been established to support the newly formed Interim Melbourne Arts Precinct Board. The role of the Board is to oversee the development of the $1.4 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project and provide government with advice on ongoing governance arrangements for the project. The Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation is a once in a generation project, which will deliver 18,000sqm of new and renewed public space in one of Australia's most densely populated suburbs and a new contemporary gallery, the biggest in Australia.

The Melbourne Arts Precinct team is led by Alex Kamenev, Interim Chief Executive Officer. The Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation Group provide secretariat support to the Board and ensure that critical decisions relating to the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation are considered and made while longer term governance arrangements are deliberated. 

Reporting to the Manager, Office of the Interim CEO, the role is responsible for the business support functions across the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation group. The successful applicant will report to the Manager, Office of the Interim CEO and be responsible for ensuring the implementation of sound business and finance processes, procurement, budget, risk, and corporate reporting. They will also contribute to a range of human resource activities including capability mapping; recruitment; and health and wellbeing for the group.

This is an exciting opportunity for an applicant with strong conceptual and analytical skills, the ability to provide timely and concise advice on complex issues; the ability to communicate effectively and work across all levels; and the flexibility to prioritise work and respond quickly.

This position will have an important role in building a safe, supportive and positive culture within the group and working closely with the Manager, Office of the Interim CEO to ensure best practice is implemented and maintained.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as drive their own work program. To be successful you will also need to display a ‘can-do' attitude and the capacity to actively contribute to developing a culture of excellence, collaboration and integrity.
