About us

The Justice Policy and Data Reform (JPDR) group supports the Attorney-General in her role as Victoria's First Law Officer and her criminal and civil law policy responsibilities. We prioritise our relationships with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure policy reform is strategic, relevant, holistic and people-centred. The group is comprised of three branches including Priority Projects, Justice Policy and Legislation and Justice System Reform.

Priority Projects branch delivers strategic policy and legislative projects that require targeted research and consultation with justice sector partners. These often include broad reviews of legislative schemes either required by the Attorney-General or by statute.

About the role

Within Priority Projects, the Senior Legal Policy Officer / Senior Project Officer is responsible for the co-ordination, research, review and development of projects or policy and legislation across the Attorney-General's portfolio. Projects being led by Priority Projects include, but are not limited to, a statutory review of the Terrorism (Community Protection) Act 2003, a review of Victoria's criminal organisation laws and the Government response to the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants.

About you

We are looking for people who are motivated to make an impact in delivering the government's reform agenda and influencing how a complex service delivery system works at all levels.

As our ideal candidate you will be demonstrate:

  • Experience with processes for development of legislation within a parliamentary system
  • Strong policy and/or project skills and experience, with the ability to develop complex strategic and policy frameworks and project plans
  • The ability to deliver projects on time and research and develop new processes.
