Shortlisting for our next intake will commence from 10th of May 2021, with a commencement date of the 7th of June 2021. 

NorthWestern Mental Health (NWMH) is one of the largest providers of Mental Health Services in Victoria. Our multi-disciplinary workforce of skilled and dynamic clinicians, consumers and carers, provide a recovery-oriented approach to care.

Our evidence based nursing approach is enhanced by our Academic Mental Health Nursing Research Unit in conjunction with Australian Catholic University (ACU).

We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Mental Health Nurse Resource Team (MHNRT). This is a 6 month fixed term position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight. MHNRT nurses can be based in any of NWMH’s six (6) Area Mental Health Services, working across a diverse range of speciality services in a variety of inpatient environments.

Your new team

Transition to mental health nursing with a potential pathway to Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing study.

  • Attend a comprehensive orientation/induction and education/training program, up to 5 days.

  • Receive ongoing support from NWMH CNEs; Melbourne Health Bank team and the NWMH Nursing Transition Program and Recruitment Project Lead.

  • Develop a diverse skill set and knowledge base; experience varied consumer presentations and become highly employable as a mental health clinician.

  • Contribute in clinical meetings, ensuring clinical standards of care are met.

  • Provide mental health assessments and treatment to consumers and their carers.

  • Provide overall coordination of care and deliver care as required on a shift-to-shift basis.

  • Manage clinical risk and actively work toward implementing risk reduction strategies.

  • Promote a friendly, respectful and supportive environment within the organisation.

Your Contribution

  • RNs/RPNs (Grade 2 Year 2 and above)

  • At least 1 year recent clinical experience in either General or Mental Health streams.

  • Interest in continuing, pursuing or transitioning to a career in Mental Health nursing.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
