An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Services team. Your excellent time management and organisational skills, along with considerable clinical coding experience will ensure your success in this position.

As a Clinical Coder your responsibilities will include:
Timely and accurate clinical coding
Participate in case mix analysis, education and quality activities
Clinical documentation improvement initiatives
Participate in audits as necessary

This position offers a variety of duties including ICD-10-AM coding, DRG audits and Casemix Management. There will be the opportunity to develop skills in a variety of areas including Hospital Casemix Protocol (HCP), Private Hospital Data Bureau (PHDB) reporting and quality activities.

John Fawkner Private Hospital is owned and operated by Healthscope Ltd., which is a publicly listed company that has experienced tremendous growth. Healthscope currently own and/or manage 43 private hospitals nationally and provides many opportunities for talented and motivated Health Information Managers.

John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north west of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 5 operating theatres, 12 bed critical care complex and busy Day Procedure Unit the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community. The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.

The Health Information Managers/Clinical Coders have an integral role in the senior management team of the hospital and reports to the Health Information Services Manager.

Essential Criteria:
HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding with experience in ICD-10-AM , ACHI & ACS
Proven experience with at least one year coding in an acute setting
Sound understanding of Codefinder & Turbocoder
Strong organisational skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work within a team environment

Desirable Criteria:
Sound Knowledge of private sector funding models
Demonstrated understanding in WebPAS patient information system
