About the role

An opportunity exists for a Co-ordinator in the Medical Workforce Team to manage the 52 Week roster for Junior Medical Staff (JMS) and/or Senior Medical Staff (SMS). This includes working with relevant Heads of Unit and Training Coordinators to allocate rotations accordingly.

The coordinator will have responsibility for managing the planned, study, and emergent leave for their allocated portfolios whilst also communicating relevant leave in a timely manner. The coordinator will also effectively manage issues and queries pertaining to the 52 week roster.

Managing aspects of recruitment, on boarding and payroll of JMS/SMS is also a key aspect of the role to ensure adequate workforce in the Hospital.

Participate in a 7-day/week, Eastern Health after hours/On Call (telephone) roster for roster issues and changes.

About you

The successful candidate must be able to participate in the on-call roster to ensure the effective operational management of the Medical Workforce Unit. The ability to manage in high pressure situations, work on multiple portfolios and coordinate multiple administrative duties would be highly regarded.

  • Ability to problem solve in a methodological manner

  • Highly developed computer literacy (proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel)

  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks and issues simultaneously

  • Demonstrated ability to manage difficult issues in calm and considered manner


  • Experience in a complex, multi-site , 24 hour 7 day per week organisation

  • Proven experience in the management of rosters

  • Previous experience in or demonstrated understanding of the healthcare industry

  • Demonstrated understanding of Human Resource practices, policies, procedures and methodologies

  • Demonstrated understanding of industrial Awards and agreements

  • Experience in the production of employment contracts for staff

  • Experience in the on boarding of medical staff
