We are recruiting Animal Management Officers across the South of Melbourne

Your new company
This Local Council based in the South of Melbourne is a growing municipality who place a large emphasis on supporting the community and the animals who are part of it. This thriving Council have a requirement for a new Animal Management/Local Laws Officer to join the team. You will be working through Hays Recruitment on a temporary contract with a high possibility for extension or transitioning to working permanently with the Council.

Your new role
Your duties on a daily basis will predominately be working as an Animal Management Officer including all or some of tasks listed below:

  • undertake enforcement and education programs/activities aimed to achieve compliance with Council's Local Laws
  • handle animals in a confident and safe manner
  • reactive and proactive patrols
  • pet registration
  • protect animal welfare and ensure appropriate treatment and care
  • report instances of overhanging vegetation, hard rubbish, abandoned vehicles, litter
  • and other general local laws duties.

What you'll need to succeed
Having previously worked for a Local Council in an animal management role, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to handle animals in a confident and safe manner. You will have conducted numerous animal pick-ups (wandering and contained animals) and will ideally have had exposure to dog attack investigations.

You will have worked in an animal management role for 5 years and/or have successfully completed a Cert IV Animal Control & Regulation (or equivalent).
