Your Role

The Senior Business Analyst role will need to apply and implement best practice business analyst techniques, tools and methodologies to identify and resolve problems, lead and implement improvements in processes, support system design and provide advisory and training support to enable the process and systems improvement benefits to be realised across all operating areas. In addition the role will be required to support forecasting, reporting and evaluation functions to support effective and efficient delivery of selected Education State Reform initiatives.

To achieve this, the successful applicant will have very strong technical skills, communication skills and a
record of demonstrated achievement in supporting business areas to improve and innovate.

  • Carry-out an analysis of available documentation
  • Conduct risk assessment analysis
  • Review business requirements, identify areas for delivering greater benefits or realisation of synergies
  • Review document process flows
  • Undertake financial analysis and modelling
  • Define the scope, goals and stakeholders
  • Determine requirements that are the highest priority for outcome success
  • Identify, communicate and, where appropriate, facilitate opportunities for continuous
  • improvement and innovation
  • Scope and define new organisational improvement opportunities
  • Validate new opportunities and requirements through consultation
  • Acts as a facilitator or coach for problem solving with cross-functional groups
  • Develop cross functional partnerships to interconnect the different systems in DET
  • Develop cross-portfolio strategies on emerging and medium-term issues and risks for the Department which deliver on government priorities
  • Functions as an internal consultant in a facilitation and/or action learning coach role for working groups/project teams across the organisation
  • Lead structured collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure coordination of policies
  • programs, and/or initiatives to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Provides facilitation or coaching services to internal and external stakeholder groups to resolve issues of urgent and immediate importance
  • Use business analytics to identify strategies to improve Bastow’s overall performance and inform decision making
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Facilitate collaborative working arrangements
  • Hold user interviews, workshops and planning sessions to identify business requirements
  • Represent stakeholders on committees and working groups
  • Develop briefs on strategic issues and risks that provide options for decision making and risk management within the organisation
  • Develop departmental, divisional or team performance goals and targets
  • Participate in strategic planning activities and contribute to strategic decision making processes
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with peers and senior internal and external
  • Stakeholders to support strategic and business planning efforts
  • Manage stakeholder consultation processes, balancing competing priorities and views
  • Negotiate with stakeholders, peers, industry bodies and other government agencies to understand views, gain cooperation, achieve influence on strategic or business priorities
  • Complete functional analysis to convert business requirements into functional requirements for programming purposes
  • Design and develop systems and program specifications
  • Develop testing strategy and system integration testing documentation
  • Review functional specifications/technical designs
