About the Team 

Our team supports the Department of Transport to deliver on the Government's transport agenda, to get people home sooner and safer and to efficiently move more goods in Victoria's thriving economy.

In the Department of Transport (DoT) we place great emphasis on employee engagement and recognise that our people are our greatest asset, underlining the importance of this role. Under the leadership of the Internal Communications Lead, the Internal Communications Advisor will deliver internal communications plans to ensure key messages and internal campaigns resonate with staff.

The role is part of a dynamic team which delivers a range of communications activities, including executive messaging, staff engagement events and key staff collaboration tools

About the Opportunity 

  • Execute internal communications plans to support the achievement of the Department's objectives and drive a constructive culture
  • Undertake reporting processes to ensure the effectiveness of internal communications practices, as informed by best practice
  • Support the work of People and Culture to foster the development of a culture which reflects the Department's values and purpose
  • Deliver written materials for a range of internal communications channels to convey key Departmental messages and promote collaboration
  • Organise logistics for staff engagement events, such as venue bookings and speaking notes

About You 

  • Possess experience working in a communications function within a diverse organisation or department
  • Have experience in executing communications plans to achieve planned outcomes
  • Hold good communications skills, including the ability to write for a range of audiences and mediums
  • Possess moderate level of computer literacy, particularly Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, videoediting software and photo libraries/databases
  • Have time management, collaboration and team work skills
