The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions is pleased to invite applications from individuals with appropriate skills and experience for appointment to fill a vacancy on the Melbourne Market Authority (MMA) board.

The term of office will be until 21 September 2022. Approved persons will be eligible to be considered for a further term.


The Melbourne Market Authority (MMA) is a statutory authority established under the Melbourne Market Authority Act 1977. The MMA's primary role ismanagement of theMelbourne Wholesale Fruit, Vegetable and Flower Market and the market land.

The MMA's objectives are to:

  • Provide a commercially viable wholesale facility for the efficient distribution of fresh produce
  • Optimise returns on land and assets controlled and managed by the MMA
  • Ensure a fair and competitive environment for the wholesale trading of produce.


The MMA Board consists of three to five members appointed by the Minister for Agriculture. Board members are appointed for a period of up to three years.

The Board generally meets once a month, mostly at the organisation's office in Melbourne. Members are expected to attend a minimum of 75 per cent of meetings and make a significant contribution to the organisation.

Remuneration is governed by the Appointment and Remuneration Guidelines for Victorian Government Boards, Statutory Bodies and Advisory Committees and is detailed in the position description.


Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified individuals with skills and experience in finance, investment and/or business development. Applicants should possess strong management, strategic thinking and networking skills, with the capacity to lead and implement change in a challenging environment and build partnerships.
