Frankston City Council is located on the eastern shores of Port Phillip Bay and is where the beach meets with the natural landscapes of the Mornington Peninsula. We are a diverse community that provides a vibrant lifestyle along with a growing economic and arts sector.

So much more than just books, the library today is a safe space for the community to create, engage, enjoy or just be. Frankston City Libraries has branches at Frankston, Carrum Downs and Seaford libraries, plus outreach locations across the city. As a casual librarian you will be reporting to the Team Leader Libraries and could be rostered at any location on weekdays, weeknights and weekends.

What we are looking for?

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include

Frankston City Libraries is looking for applications from qualified librarians committed to providing excellent Customer and Information Services to the community.

  • Act as a duty manager to supervise, support and motivate a team.
  • Resolve complex customer queries, complaints and other escalated issues to ensure fair and appropriate outcomes
  • Assist customers and other staff members in the discovery and use of new technology
  • Support the team by performing daily operating tasks as required

About You
  • A confident and flexible attitude with the resilience to continue to create positive customer experiences in a range of unique circumstances.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to contribute to a harmonious and positive work environment.
  • Experience in facilitating programs and training to enhance community engagement
  • Extensive experience in the use of current technologies and a passion about assisting the community to explore and use them
  • Ability to work at short notice in a busy team in a customer facing environment
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
