About the Centre

We are looking for staff who can make themselves available across the two School Holiday Programs in both Ashburton and Boroondara (Balwyn). The distance between both leisure centres is approximately 7km. The Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre’s closest train station is Ashburton being on the Alamein Line and a 1km walk from the station to the Ashburton Centre. Buses also travel very close to both centres with Boroondara Sports Complex also a 750/m walk from the tram line on Doncaster Road.

Key Elements of the Role

We are looking for educators who can make themselves available across the two School Holiday Programs.

School Holiday Program Educators must have a sound knowledge of Education & Care Services National Law Act & Regulations 2010, National Quality Framework, which includes; My Time Our Place & National Quality Standards. As Educators you should expect to be working indoors and outdoors, be creative and able to participate in physical play stimulated activities. Applicants may be expected to attend excursions with the program from time to time.

YMCA curriculum is aligned to the National Quality Framework of Australia, and the Education & Care Services National Law Act & Regulations 2010.

  • Punctual in both attendance on shift and attendance at staff meetings

Knowledge and Experience

  • Work within a team of educators to ensure the care and adequate supervision of all children & undertake headcounts every half an hour, and as required, especially on excursions
  • Ensure you work within all regulatory, compliance and YMCA operational requirements for excellent? service delivery
  • Maintain the integrity of the YMCA in all aspects of carrying out your duties of employment and work within all YMCA policy guidelines and procedures

Personal Attributes

  • Demonstrates experience, passion and enthusiasm for working with young children while delivering a program in line with current pedagogies
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to delegate, prioritise and ensure a consistently high-quality service experience for all children and families


Mandatory Pre-Requisite Qualifications

  • Level 2 First Aid
  • CPR
  • Anaphylaxis Management Training
  • Asthma Management Training
  • Working with Children Check
  • Diploma in Children’s Services or Equivalent Qualification

  • ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)
  • Two reference checks
