About the branch:

The Operations Division is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and support fire and emergency management. The Division's resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities. Service delivery is managed and delivered within the demands of the Divisional Action Plan and the requirements of the statewide fire and emergency role and in partnership with community and other government agencies.

Each region consists of a diverse range of parks and reserves. Staff working within the Region are responsible for providing efficient and effective implementation of a broad range of often complex park management functions including natural, cultural and built asset management, visitor management and services, stakeholder management, park planning and emergency response.

About the role and your responsibilities:

As the Marine Ranger, you will plan for, and deliver, in park services as directed by the Manager to enable efficient and effective delivery at a district level in accordance with the Regional Action Plan. You will undertake activities requiring a level of environmental and service expertise and the position will be accountable for personal performance. You will support the delivery of marine plans through provision of support in research and monitoring, vessel operation, diving and compliance.

The Marine Ranger will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic and actively participate in a team environment ensuring that the overall success of the team is considered to be an outcome of individual success. You will be adaptable and flexible to on the ground service requirements in order to ensure superior park management services are achieved at all times..

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification or relevant experience in a Natural Science, Park or Port Management discipline.
  • Marine Qualifications and experience in boat handling is desirable i.e. Coxswains 1NC Certificate or an ability to complete necessary training.
  • Qualification and experience in Snorkelling and SCUBA diving.
  • Current employee Working with Children card
