About the business and the role

Ty Sam and Associates Pty Ltd is an established accounting firm offering accounting and business services located in Surrey Hills. We are seeking for a multilingual and motivated full time Accountant with local experience to add to our expanding team. This is a great career development opportunity to broaden and deepen your experience in the areas of accounting, taxation and superannuation in a very hands-on role.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Preparing income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, partnerships, trusts, companies, and self-managed superannuation funds.
  • Preparing other tax forms including BAS/IAS, and FBT
  • Preparing financial statements for clients for taxation reporting compliance and/or management purposes.
  • Examining budget variances, operating costs, income and expenditure with accounting policies
  • Assisting with providing financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans and operations
  • Liaising with ATO on compliance, statutory requirements, audits, private rulings and tax objections
  • Liaising with financial institutions and brokers to assist clients’ loan requirements to establish funds management arrangements.
  • Knowledge of client accounting software including Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon
  • Introducing and maintaining accounting systems and may advise on the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems
  • Contributing to and maintaining internal control systems


Skills and experience

The ideal candidate must have

  • an Australian Accounting degree (Master or Bachelor)
  • minimum two to three years of previous experience in preparing Tax Returns, BAS/IAS and Financial Statements, along with experience in Xero, MYOB and/or QuickBooks software
  • experience in MYOB Tax Practice Manager, and BGL software, along with experience in ASIC Company Secretary related services will be an advantage
  • commenced or completed CPA/CA studies
  • minimum of Intermediate Excel skills
  • strong interest in client servicing, accounting and tax work with high attention to details
  • a sense of urgency in completing tasks and pride in your work
  • ability to work on your own as well as part of the team
  • excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
