JOB DESCRIPTION

The role
Working closely with our highly regarded Partners Jo Pugsley and Steve Murray we have an exciting opportunity for a driven and ambitious front end construction Lawyer (4-6 PQE) to join our Melbourne Major Projects and Construction team on a full time basis.

As legal providers to a number of significant infrastructure projects, our team requires an additional front end specialist to service a solid pipeline of high-profile and complex infrastructure projects. This role will see you act for a wide range of public and private sector clients across the construction, engineering, resource, transport and infrastructure industries, including VicRoads, Development Victoria, the Department of Treasury and Finance, the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, and Transport and Resources.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A background in infrastructure project delivery, front-end construction law or major procurement
  • High quality private practice experience and/or exceptional experience working in-house within the construction/projects industry
  • Strong academic ability and strong drafting skills
  • The ability to provide timely, accurate and commercially astute advice
  • A strong sense of purpose, ambition and a proactive approach to your work
  • A desire to work within a dynamic, supportive and fast-paced team environment on city changing infrastructure projects

In addition to this, we're looking for a resilient, self-starter. Someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing an outstanding service to their clients.

The Major Projects and Construction team
The Major Projects and Construction team is one of the largest dedicated construction practices in the Asia Pacific region, working on some of the most significant infrastructure, construction, engineering and contract mining projects in the region for public and private participants.

We advise the full spectrum of participants, from owners, developers and project sponsors to Federal, State and Local Government agencies, financiers, project managers, consultants and contractors. We know and understand the practical, as well as the purely legal, aspects of what all participants in major projects want to achieve, and have a particular expertise in Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in complex economic and social infrastructure construction projects.
