The Role

We have a Data Analyst role available in the Future Force squad within the Grow to Perform Tribe.

FutureFORCE is a Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) Squad focused on helping businesses to better understand and plan for their future workforce by using various workforce strategy and planning tools and techniques. The squad has been together for 18 months and whilst having produced some outstanding outcomes for the business, there is still a lot of opportunities to influence and build out our tools, frameworks, methodologies and practices.

As a data analyst within the SWP portfolio, we’re looking for you to combine your experience of data engineering and processes with your data analysis and data management skills, in order to represent our current state workforce or to simulate how the shape of an entire workforce could change over time. You will ideally have experience manipulating and managing large workforce data sets, including data structuring, data ingestion/automation flows and visualisation. An understanding of how data is used to predict workforce demand would be highly regarded. Currently our preferred tools and solutions require capabilities in Tableau, Qlik Sense, Excel , SQL , Python, R.

What will your day look like?

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues within our Squad, Tribe and Function, as well with our partners including business stakeholders, Finance and Enterprise Data Governance you will deliver activities that cumulatively address business objectives
  • Analysing large data sets in order to break down complex problems into digestible tranches of work
  • Providing advice on how we organise, analyse and maintain our data
  • Managing data quality issues and drive remediation strategies
  • Mapping and cataloguing data elements and data assets and addressing any data quality shortcomings
  • Cleaning and ingesting data assets in our database
  • Help ensure data is managed within the Squad to meet internal policies or external regulations
  • Help the business achieve great outcomes for Customers
  • Ensure ANZ's core values are always maintained in dealing with staff, colleagues and customers.

What will be in your toolkit?

  • Experience with various data capabilities - Understanding of metadata and data lineage; Designing for data simplification; Defining and leveraging data assets; Defining and applying Accountability for data; Understanding of the data lifecycle
  • Experience in organising and maintaining existing quantitative & qualitative data sources so that it can be leveraged for other use cases
  • Developing tools or solutions in various applications or coding/scripting languages (e.g. Tableau, Qlik Sense, Excel, SQL, Python, R)
  • Ability to translate quantitative & qualitative information and relay insights through narratives & visual means
  • Ability to collaborate and influence with different stakeholders
  • Strong conceptual reasoning skills with the ability to work with a high level of ambiguity
  • Experience in executing aspects of a data management or governance
  • Data analysis, modelling and any architecture and engineering experience, including the ability to interrogate our data assets and pull data sets together.
  • Experience identifying, analysing and resolving data quality issues
  • Experience executing activities with Agile in mind, as well as investigating facts to support a business cases from a data perspective
  • Comfortable building trusted and productive relationships across the organisation with a strong ability to influence and succeed through collaboration
  • Business analysis experience with understanding of data quality and data protection / privacy management practices
  • Experiencing developing advanced statistical techniques that uses quantitative & qualitative information to inform leadership decision-making (Advantageous)
  • Ability to design, engineer & improve future workforce modelling techniques to deliver insights on workforce capabilities at the enterprise level (Advantageous)
