Position Summary: 

  • Provide overall epidemiological oversight to the Locations Pod Leads, epidemiologists and other team members.
  • Inform and oversee surveillance of active cases, contacts, and outbreaks across Victoria.
  • Design, oversee and conduct epidemiological analysis within the scope of the Locations Pods.
  • Coordination and management of the functions performed by the Location Pods.
  • Maintain situational awareness of the evolving epidemiological issues state-wide.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of epidemiologists and project leads in the design and conduct of epidemiological analyses to inform COVID-19 prevention and control efforts.
  • Oversee the surveillance and reporting of cases, contacts and outbreaks across Victoria from the Locations Pods to the wider DIME team and response.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure all DIME activities are properly planned and delivered.
  • Provide epidemiological advice and reporting to Senior Manager, Investigation and Analysis and to CCOM Leadership to inform and support COVID-19 outbreak management.
  • Decision making and resolution of operational issues escalated by Pod Leads, and escalation of issues as necessary.
  • Monitor team performance resolve issues and escalate issues as necessary.
  • With assistance of reporting expertise from across the DIME team, develop and oversee reporting and categorisation of outbreaks.
  • Design and oversee epidemiological analysis of cases, contacts, and outbreaks to inform and support COVID-19 surveillance and outbreak management in Victoria.
  • Liaise closely and maintain relationships with CCOM leads and stakeholders to optimise the daily operations of the Locations Pod teams.
  • Write and update documentation (e.g. Standard Operating Procedures) relevant to the Outbreak Epidemiologists to ensure they are up to date and complete.
  • Work closely with other members of the COVID-19 division to identify and resolve issues relating to case, contact, and outbreak management.
  • Work closely with the Locations Pod Leads to design and implement robust epidemiological analysis and reporting tools to support COVID-19 outbreak management.
  • Actively participate in and Investigation and Analysis Team meetings
