About The Project

McConnell Dowell is the constructor within the Western Program Alliance (WPA) which forms part of the Victorian State government's ambitious level crossing removal program. The Alliance brings together the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and Arup and Mott MacDonald as design partners.

WPA was formed in 2017 and following the successful completion of several major projects, is now focused on delivering the level crossing removals at Werribee (Werribee Street & Cherry Street), Hoppers Crossing (Old Geelong Road), Cranbourne (the Cranbourne Line Upgrade), and Williamstown (Ferguson Street) as well as developing future works projects.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications from experienced Environmental Advisors who enjoy working in ateam and liaising with a variety of stakeholders. This role will assist the project team deliver an exciting and fast-paced construction project, located in a sensitive environment within both residential and business districts. In this role you will focus on mitigating environmental impacts through implementation and compliance with the CEMP and approval conditions.

This role will be based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne.

As An Environmental Advisor You Will Be Responsible For

  • Active participation in identifying and assessing environmental initiatives and programs
  • Oversee environmental monitoring programs associated with cultural heritage, marine ecology, water, waste, noise, air
  • Undertaking inspections, audits and environmental monitoring. Reporting, interpretation of results and action of findings
  • Providing advice to construction teams on environmental management requirements to deliver outstanding environmental outcomes
  • Develop, implement and maintain CEMP and associated sub-plans
  • Permitting and approvals. Developing strong relationships with councils, regulators and other community stakeholders

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have
  • Tertiary qualifications in area of environmental science / engineering, natural resource management or related field
  • Minimum three years’ environmental management experience, preferably in a construction environment
  • Experience in managing and overseeing Ecology, Cultural Heritage, Water Management programs in sensitive environments
  • Experience with various environmental monitoring equipment and interpretation of results
  • Experience in managing consultants, developing and delivering training and conducting audits
  • Ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Self-sufficient, requiring limited supervision with focus on results
  • Experience in GIS is highly desirable
