The Position
St John of God Berwick Hospital is seeking an OHS Consultant to join the Occupational Health and Safety team. As an OHS Consultant, you are responsible for the coordination and implementation of health and wellness strategies and to coordinate health, safety and wellness initiatives within the division in accordance with Group OHS strategy. Provides sound OHS advice and support to managers and safety representatives.
This role will be offered on a permanent full time basis, working 76 hours per fortnight.
The successful candidate will have:
- A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
- Minimum Diploma OHS or working towards same.
- Experience working in OHS role.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary OHS legislation and practice including risk assessment, hazard identification, assessment and control, and the conduct of workplace OHS inspections, audits and accident investigations.
- Capacity to provide OHS support and advice with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective prioritisation and organisational skills including the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Well-developed interpersonal/communication skills including presentation and report-writing skills.
- Good conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to apply solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to interpret and understand statistical data, and to use that information in making recommendations about how to improve working systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and to work to deadlines.
- Work directly with OHS Practitioners, Managers and Caregiver’s including all relevant external parties.
