Operations Director Grampians Public Health Unit
Fixed 12 month – Full time
80 Hours per fortnight with ADO

Ballarat Health Services are currently accepting Expressions of Interest for the Operations Director Grampians Health Unit.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the establishment and design of the Grampians Public Health Unit (GPHU) based at Ballarat Health Services (BHS). GPHU is one of nine local public health units being established as part of a state-wide restructure of public health delivery in Victoria. As Operations Director GPHU, the position will direct all public health operations for the Grampians region as required by the Department of Health (DOH). It is anticipated that in time this position will direct the operational functions of new public health initiatives including and spanning epidemiological research, diseases prevention, population health strategies and interventions throughout the Grampians Cluster.

This position links tightly with the current COVID-19 medical, nursing and allied health service teams, the general Infectious Diseases service and BHS and regional Infection Prevention and Control practitioners

This is a senior leadership and management position and carries with it the professional responsibilities of team leadership and management, reporting, quality and governance, and engagement and teaching as well as administrative requirements. This role will ensure the management of the unit financial budgets, staffing requirements and activity targets.

Key Selection Criteria

Qualifications and Experience

  • Clinical qualifications with current registration with AHPRA, where relevant, or eligible for membership of relevant professional association
  • Post-graduate qualifications in management or other relevant field (desirable).
  • Demonstrated clinical and management experience in health services as well as multi-disciplinary models of care.
  • Experience within a large, complex healthcare organisation

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams and individuals and address underperformance issues as they arise.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the policy & funding environment within which health and human services (Commonwealth and State Governments) operates.
  • Business Acumen: Using ones knowledge of economic, financial, market, and industry data/trends to understand and improve individual, work group, and/or organisational results; using one’s understanding of major business functions, industry trends, and own organisation’s position to contribute to effective business strategies and/or tactics.
