The AWS Cloud Innovation team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) does just that. It helps the public sector explore, define and resolve pressing community issues to benefit society, today and for the future. And the great news is, our team is now looking for a new Program Manager for our Cloud Innovation Centres (CICs), where we facilitate collaboration between the public sector, AWS practitioners, university researchers, and students who gain hands-on learning in practical digital innovation. This helps shape vital skills for the next-generation workforce that benefits both the technology industry and the public sector for years to come.

The CIC Program Manager plays a critical role in managing the operations of our two Cloud Innovation Centres (CICs) in Australia.

Core responsibilities
· Communication Planning: Build and manage outreach and communications efforts, with our PR and Marketing teams, that will be broad based and accomplished in collaboration with institutional partners
· Project and Resource Management: Help to maximise the impact of challenges and customer engagements. Work closely with the Digital Innovation Lead and Solutions Architect to assess needs across all engagements, based on each challenge's requirements. Maintain skills matrix and related reporting for other parts of the AWS organisation
· Business Planning: Implement monthly, quarterly and annual cadence and working meetings to drive business planning. Coordinate the preparation, agenda, and follow up actions to complete forward looking business plans
· Monthly Metrics: Establish baseline metrics/reports to support the development of new innovation challenges or other CIC associated business opportunities. Create assets, on both what worked well and what failed, to be shared out with the existing challenge community and other CICs globally. Ensure complete and accurate challenge/project reporting
· Identify: Work with the Digital Innovation Lead to align partner institutional assets and AWS internal assets to ensure challenge outcomes have maximum impact on societal problems
· Collaborate: Work together with other business stakeholders (e.g. Account Managers, Public Policy, Marketing, Public Relations) to source, amplify, and celebrate impactful challenges.


· 4+ years of professional experience required. A significant portion of which should demonstrate success in program management, business operations, and communications
· Minimum 4 years of technology, digital media, and/or product management experience
· Experience working in a horizontal or matrixed business.
· Able to prioritise in complex, fast paced environment
· Experience driving projects to completion working with aggressive timelines


· Comfortable with a degree of ambiguity, within clear guidelines
· A personal passion to make the world a better place through resourceful and effective application of IT
· A commitment to work with public sector mission owners to expose effective solutions that improve the delivery of government services to citizens
· Development of brand and/or communication strategies
· Background in project management
· Demonstrated experience proactively recognising a challenge of problem and working with a variety of teams and data sources to diagnose the problem and recommend solutions
· Demonstrated ability to develop business reports that help an organisation operate smoothly, with views that will meet the needs of other business partners (e.g. Finance, Sales Operations, etc)
· Capacity planning and budgetary experience
· Experience in design thinking methodology
