About Department
The department of Medical Engineering and Physics is a multidisciplinary department that is responsible for the management of medical equipment and radiation safety across SVHM.

About the Role

This is an entry level role for a recent graduate or someone looking to begin their career in medical equipment management. You will be supported in this role by other senior staff with structured education, however basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, electronics and a willingness to learn are essential.

Duties

The Grade 1 Biomedical Engineer/Technician works on the evaluation, repair, and maintenance of medical equipment throughout STV. The incumbent will also participate in the evaluation of equipment being considered for purchase, providing advice on the design, construction, reliability, cost and safety of medical equipment.

This position provides services to all campuses of SVHM and any external services that have contracted SVHM.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Formal qualifications in Electronics, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Eligible for membership to Engineers Australia or ACPSEM
  • A knowledge of the relevant Australian and International Standards & their application to medical equipment
  • An ability to communicate with clinical staff
  • Basic computer hardware, networking and software skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
  • A current Australian drivers license
