JOB DESCRIPTION

• Provide cadastral surveying services for government projects and land dealings across Victoria
• Undertake survey audits as part of the state-wide survey audit program
• Contribute to the development of land surveying policies and the improvement of management systems An exciting opportunity for either a Licensed Surveyor or Senior Surveyor to join a dynamic team within the Surveyor-General Victoria branch.

Be part of a flexible and supportive team providing their expertise and experience to the delivery of government projects and land dealings and the improvement of cadastral survey standards and practices.

These positions support the Manager of the Cadastral Infrastructure and Standards (CIS) section to deliver the legislated functions of the Surveyor-General, which include the provision of land surveying services, expert advice for government projects and land dealings, and monitoring the standard of cadastral surveys through the survey audit program.

Cadastral Infrastructure and Standards is a section within the office of Surveyor-General Victoria, which is a business unit of Land Use Victoria. Its purpose is to ensure the provision of authoritative and efficient land surveying and drafting services to government and the private sector.

The Position Description refers to a position available within the office of Surveyor-General Victoria that can be filled at either the VPS Grade 5 or VPS Grade 6 level according to the capability and experience of the applicant. Applicants are invited to apply for a position in accordance with their skills and experience and are required to identify with the Accountabilities of each role and respond to the Key Selection Criteria of each role they are applying for.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

VPS Grade 5, Licensed Surveyor

  • It is mandatory to be a practicing licensed surveyor in Victoria.
  • Possess sound knowledge of land surveying practices; surveying equipment; and Victorian cadastral surveying legislation, land tenure legislation and policies.

VPS Grade 6, Senior Surveyor

  • It is mandatory to be a practicing licensed surveyor in Victoria. A minimum of eight years' experience working as a licensed surveyor in Victoria is highly desirable.
  • Possess high level knowledge of land surveying practices, Victorian cadastral surveying legislation, land tenure legislation and policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in completely and accurately carrying out cadastral surveys of a complex nature with proven experience in preparing survey documentation to a high standard. Ability to peer review the cadastral surveys and associated documentation of other licensed surveyors to that same high standard.

Please note, there are two positions available as below:

  • 1 ongoing position (VPSG5 or VPSG6 depending on experience)
  • 1 fixed term position available for a period of 2 years (VPSG5 or VPSG6 depending on experience)
