Programmed Skilled Workforce is currently seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to join our client, based at a local Correctional Centre in Ararat VIC, working as an integral member of the site team.

Reporting to the Senior Contract Manager, the HSEQ Manager is accountable for the implementation and operation of Quality, Environmental and Safety Management Systems and Procedures. The HSEQ Manager will support the site team and sub-contractors in ensuring the safe delivery of services on the site. This role would suit someone with a practical and pragmatic approach to safety with strong mentoring and coaching skills. Working at heights and isolation procedure experience would be desirable but not essential.

This role combines the best of hands-on safety management with a strategic and operational focus towards the achievement of our zero/harm values.

Skills and experience

  • Diploma (Occupational Health & Safety), alternatively proven extensive operational HSEQ experience
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (Desirable)
  • A thorough understanding of the requirements of ISO 9001, AS 4801 and ISO 14001.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement and maintain Integrated Management Systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in the practical application of appropriate OH&S legislation, statutory requirements and Australian Standards
  • Proven advanced consultation and communication skills
  • Proven mentoring and coaching experience
  • Ability to prepare concise management reports
  • Lateral thinking ability with high problem solving skills, effective supervision and people management skills
  • Knowledge of Environment Management Systems principles and practice (desirable but not essential)
  • Commercial decision making capacity.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, project management, computer-based information systems and software applications (e.g MS Office).
