Senior Manager

Job Description & Summary
With PwC, you’ll ignite a meaningful career while being supported by a flexible working culture, innovative learning and development opportunities and progressive policies and benefits, such as 18 weeks paid parental leave for mums, dads and foster carers (no minimum service!)

What will you create?

You’ll help Australian businesses, not-for-profits and governments create value and improve the way they work. From digitising healthcare, to creating smarter cities and igniting our start-up industry, together we build trust in society and solve important problems.

Consulting bring this to life by helping clients improve the way they operate, reduce costs, manage risks, leverage talent, or fundamentally change the way they do business. Your work here will help organisations of all shapes and sizes work smarter and grow faster.

As a Senior Manager in our Deals Strategy & Operationsteam your impact will be seen by:

  • Pre-deal value creation advisory – i.e. where can we see value for our client in this deal?
  • Buy and sell side operational due diligence – i.e. has the business been performing well? What could be improved to unlock further value for our client?
  • Synergy development and review – i.e. where are the synergies between two businesses and how well has the plan for capturing these synergies been compiled?
  • Carve out and divestment support – i.e. what does the business look like standalone, what support and transition services will it need to function? How can we help our clients execute the separation and ensure a smooth Day 1?
  • Taking control and 100 day planning – i.e. how can our clients safely take control of the business and manage risk whilst delivering quick wins through the first 100 days?
  • Mergers & Acquisitions Integration – i.e. how can our clients protect and grow value in an acquisition, what is the right level of integration to achieve this and what does an effectively run integration program look like?
  • Post-acquisition performance improvement using our Rapid Value Creation methodology – i.e. where might value lie in the business and how can we generate sustainable cost savings?

  • Train, coach, and supervise team members
  • Continue to develop internal relationships and develop your PwC brand

Essential skills
  • Experience of working in a consulting role or a transformation role in industry
  • Experienced in M&A, synergy, integration and/or carve-out, and/or on change projects, restructuring or business improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess the performance of a business (or elements of it) and outline improvement opportunities based upon limited information and/or interactions with senior management
  • Ability to quickly understand large amounts of information and draw out hypotheses and key messages

Personality characteristics
  • We work hard together, so we hire people who treat their colleagues well, who are not hierarchical and enjoy creating a happy culture even when under pressure
  • Extremely comfortable around C-suite or senior stakeholders, as most of our work is done at this level; you don’t need to be an extrovert, but confidence definitely helps
  • Comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity in a project environment, and excited by the idea that you may not know what country you will be in next week
  • Extremely handy with Excel and PowerPoint. Much of our work involves detailed analysis and report writing, so it is critical you can work with these tools

Passionate about being at the forefront of change, you’re ready to help our Consulting team deliver practical advice that speaks straight to the heart of client business issues and deliver innovative results.

You’re collaborative and enjoy working in an innovative environment. You’re a problem solver by nature and want to join a firm that values the kind of people who reimagine the possible for their clients and stakeholders. Most importantly, you act with integrity and show care for the people you work with.
