About the role

The Ergonomist, as an appointed Inspector, provides specialist knowledge and advice in human factors and/or ergonomics, participating in the identification of workplace interventions relevant to the management and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders and poor psychological health outcomes.
  • You will be providing expert technical and operational advice to WorkSafe Victoria and its clients in relation to human factors and/or ergonomic issues in the workplace
  • You will contribute to the development, implementation, co-ordination, and evaluation of ergonomic hazard-based programs
  • You will participate in the development of regulatory standards, legislation and guidance material
  • Finally, you will establish and maintain professional networks with a range of professional groups and public and private sector agencies

About you

You are an experienced Ergonomist in the areas of either human factors and/or physical ergonomics who wants to make a difference. Your communication and organisational skills are exemplary - You have a passion for Victorians returning home safe from work every day. You are a team oriented person who enjoys making an impact on your team and stakeholders.
  • You have a strong knowledge of and demonstrated experience with identification and management of human factors/ergonomics (HFE) factors that impact health and safety in the workplace as well as an understanding of the link between organisational, physical and psychological health in injury risk.
  • You have demonstrated experience and knowledge of a broad range of health and safety issues relating to HFE.
  • You also have a demonstrated experience in the development, co-ordination and evaluation of hazard based programs and strategies that aim to reduce the incidence and severity of work related injury and disease.
  • Finally, you have strong communication skills with the ability to influence others. A demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with workplace parties, government agencies, OHS professionals and other WorkSafe clients
