About the role:

The Specialist Intelligence Unit is seeking an experienced intelligence professional for the role of Specialist Analyst. As the successful applicant, you will provide authoritative strategic intelligence for Victoria Police decision makers on the results of intelligence gathering and analysis, including the identification of trends and emerging issues. You will model leadership attributes in the workplace and across the organisation through the provision of guidance in intelligence analysis and related skillsets. You will contribute to Victoria Police intelligence holdings by remaining conversant with current national and international trends in crime and public safety.

Your duties will include:

  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis on trends, issues and drivers to inform senior decision makers;
  • Preparing high quality intelligence products on a range of issues including crime and public safety;
  • Developing strategic intelligence to be utilised across the organisation; and
  • Providing intelligence briefings to Executive Command and other stakeholders as required.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A high-level understanding of intelligence analysis, particularly strategic intelligence, with practical applied analytical skills including the use of structured analytic techniques;
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and the ability to condense complex ideas and information into language appropriate for the audience;
  • High-level negotiation, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Proven experience in the preparation of comprehensive intelligence products, reports, plans, and proposals.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full time, ongoing position and one (1) x fixed-term position until 31 January 2022.
  • Working within the Specialist Intelligence Unit, Specialist Intelligence Services Division, Intelligence and Covert Support Command located at the Victoria Police Complex, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.You may be required to work at any other division within the Intelligence and Covert Support Command as required.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
